Header Arrow Custom Web Design

"No two web sites are alike"

Custom web design can consist of one or more pages. Generally there are 2 categories - static & dynamic.
  1. Static web design is a web site that has no dynamic capabilities. The web pages are designed by a web developer and usually updated by a developer or someone familiar with HTML code. This is among the most popular type of design because of cost. At BWT, we develop your site to your genre and help you keep the site up to date. You let us know the changes you need, and in most cases the changes will happen almost immediately. An example of a static site is Hope Church. Static sites usually have the extension .html (though many forms of HTML exist).

  2. Dynamic web design is created with the thought of interactivity, such as a blog, news, content management, or a data base. Data-based-driven is another name for this type of web design. Most clients use dynamic design for E-Commerce or content management sites. An example of a dynamic site is Oceania Real Estate Services. Pages within these sites likely have the extension, .php, .asp, .aspx, or .cfm.

Custom web design is not only about the type of pages, but most importantly how your finished site looks. We can help generate a look that fits your company and gives the exposure you need to make the web work for you. We have web programmers to help design intricate sites that you may not think are even possible. We also have graphic designers who can create logos, business cards, and print materials.

"Multi-Browser Support"

Web users are becoming more educated, to include the use of multi-browsers. Based on Wikipedia results for 4th Quarter 2007, Internet Explorer still retains 81.14% of the market while Firefox boasts 13.81%. Though Firefox is an underdog to IE, we believe that Firefox will continue to grow in market share over the coming years, not to mention the increasingly popular Mac browser, Safari. This is why creating a web site to be functional in multi-broswers is so important. We test our web sites on 5 different browser platforms to include Safari (a Mac browser now available for Windows) to ensure we reach all audiences. You can read more about browser statistics at Wikipedia.

"Content Management vs. HTML"

One product solution that is gaining popularity is content management. This is a web site software package that the end user creates themselves using various pre-made templates. The end user also creates all the pages, content, and gadgets within the site. This is appealing for those who want to update their own sites or have information that changes frequently.

Though content management may seem perfect for some, it is not a true HTML designed web site. Content management sites generate pages on the fly, so the code is not optimized. There are some great content management software applications out there that may work perfectly, but most fall short of many features and benifets in comparison to real html developed sites. Here are some examples:

  1. Usually, the ability to "put things where you want" is very limited. Often, you must use templates created by the company. If the templates are customizable then the user should have HTML or even PHP or ASP knowledge.

  2. The ability to create effective Meta data (described in our SEO section) is stricken by the software. This is important for search engine placement and ranking.

  3. "Garbled source code" The software sometimes creates source code that even search engines cannot read well.

The most important issue is TIME. If you are running a business, do you really have the time to create a 10 page website? Most users purchase content management software based on cost, but never realized the work involved. We can create similar solutions for you without compromising your vision or your desire to update your own content and still retain that true HTML, PHP, or ASP coding. Even the search engines will enjoy crawling your site.
